Why the Whole Waterberg District<\/h5>

The Waterberg Landscape Alliance (WLA) has adopted a landscape conservation approach that encompasses the entire Waterberg District, providing a clear, unifying vision with global relevance and regional impact.<\/p>

The Waterberg is a large, contiguous landscape\u2014ecologically interconnected through its rivers, vegetation types, and wildlife corridors\u2014making it ideal for a holistic conservation strategy. By aligning our focus with the District\u2019s political boundaries, WLA strengthens collaboration with government and ensures that conservation planning integrates meaningfully with socio-economic development and the wildlife economy.<\/p>

This district-wide scope also supports our commitment to Area Integrity, as the conservation clusters, stakeholder networks, and rhino properties we work with span the full region. Importantly, it allows us to protect key biodiversity features and create vital buffer areas while addressing conservation targets across all vegetation types.<\/p>

Our approach is driven by deep local knowledge, a strong network of engaged partners, and a growing base of biodiversity and spatial data that guides evidence-based action.
